The Bible is unlike any other book.
God has chosen to communicate with mankind throughout the ages through this book of books. As God’s own speaking, the Bible opens up God’s heart to us and reveals to us more of who He is. If we want to know Him, His plan for mankind, and His purpose for us as believers, we must read it and understand it.
But the Bible is not always easy to understand. That’s why the study notes, outlines, cross-references, and other features in the Recovery Version of the Bible are invaluable. They really help us to grasp the significance and meaning of God’s speaking in His Word.
Of course, it is helpful to remember that our studying of God’s Word is for so much more than just doctrinal knowledge. Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” By devoting time to study the Word and accompanying our study with prayer, we let the word of Christ dwell in us richly and allow Christ to minister Himself in so many aspects to us through His Word. These riches of Christ become our nourishment for our growth in the life of Christ. This is the real aim of our studying God’s Word.
Each of the Bible studies in this section will take you through a particular topic by using study notes from the New Testament Recovery Version to open up the verses and provide a deeper understanding of the subject. It may be readily apparent why many of the verses are included, while others may need careful consideration and prayer to fully see the connection.
These studies can be conducted at your own pace. Since each topic has several sections that include a number of verses and footnotes, a study may require more than one sitting to complete. You can study one section at a time, or even one point at a time.
